Linda Roedl

The Kenneth G. Mills Foundation is sad to announce the passing of a former Star-Scape Singer, Linda Roedl, on June 18, 2025, in Prince Edward County. Her health had been declining in recent months, and she passed peacefully at home surrounded by music, with her partner, Richard Leach (also a former Star-Scape Singer), and beloved dog, Poochini, at her side.

Linda had studied music at Oklahoma University and obtained an B.Mus. in piano at the University of Colorado. In his memoirs, The Candy Maker’s Son, Dr. Kenneth G. Mills wrote: “Linda moved to Canada [from the United States] in the early seventies and came to be one of my piano pupils. Linda played beautifully and worked diligently on any piece of repertoire she decided to play. She was excited about what she was receiving as my piano pupil, as well as what she was discovering philosophically from attending the Unfoldments.” At that time Linda was married to James Roedl, who would follow her to Canada and go on to study with Dr. Mills, as well as co-compose several works with him that were performed by the Star-Scape Singers.

Initially Linda Roedl accompanied the Star-Scape Singers (founded in 1976) on piano and then went on to perform in the ensemble, her extraordinary alto voice penetrating their sound.

At that time, Linda also took shorthand notes whenever Dr. Mills lectured and became his administrative assistant at Sun-Scape Enterprises, which included overseeing the publication of his many books and recordings. She was an integral part of the team that transcribed Kenneth G. Mills’s lectures and maintained the library of these Unfoldments.

More recently, Linda Roedl gave piano lessons and recitals in Prince Edward County and was also the music director and organist of St. George’s Anglican Church in Trenton, Ontario.
