Creative Endeavors
Inspired by Kenneth G. Mills
The root of the word inspire is “to breathe into.” Each of the artists whose work is shown below has been inspired by the spoken Word of Kenneth G. Mills. Fundamental to all these artists is the center of Love from which their unique creative expressions have unfolded. The Kenneth G. Mills Foundation is pleased to showcase their work.
Riding the Sound Wave, How a Mentor Changed My Life, by Terry Stevens. “Terry Stevens' writing is a split tone of elegance, detailed in his quest to know himself, and with profound teachings from his Canadian mentor, Dr. Kenneth George Mills.” (Rolland G. Smith, author, award-winning broadcast journalist).
A Releasement: Learning to Dance with Life, by Lucille Joseph. “This book teaches me how to live a creative life. It has reignited my commitment to the internal, and shows me how studying high teaching is practical” (Angela Blumberg, Dancer and Choreographer).
Encore: The Poetry of Nature, by Rolland G. Smith, with a foreword by Kenneth Mills. This book reconnects the human spirit to the peace and sacredness of nature and life. The photographs delight the emotional eye and then gently take their imagery into the folds of the heart where it is held while the poetry adds its verbal texture and grace.
Tom Thomson: On the Threshold of Magic, by playwright Barry T. Brodie. Through a play exploring Tom Thomson’s legacy and inner journey, along with witty journal entries and visually succulent poetry, he takes the reader through the drama, humour, and tender struggles of the creative journey. “A compelling mediation on the creative process” (Bob Steele, CBC broadcaster).
Sunrise Titles with Twills, a documentary featuring the work of master weaver Ted Hallman in collaboration with Kenneth Mills. “Ted Hallman is … a visionary whose fiber art fuses the palette and luminosity of Monet with the geometry and vibrancy of kinetic art” (Robert Kyr, University of Oregon).
Wings of Wonder, poems by Robert McAlpine. “The messages and mysteries hidden amongst the cacophony of life are revealed through his poetic gift” (Jim Hunt).

Coyote Wisdom Visits Brooklyn and Travels the Universe, by Mallory Blair Randle. “On the surface, these are simple tales, but they startle. They not only make you see your relationship with animals in a different, far deeper way, but also make you re-evaluate your relationship to the world” (Michael Nill).
Florissa the Fish, written and illustrated by Victoria Friedman, with book design by Ellen Mann, tells the story of Florissa’s strong will to transcend the many obstacles encountered in the sea. Dedicated to “Dr. Kenneth G. Mills, the Silver Fish in our lives.”
Hope, Recovery, and a New Life: A Stroke Patient’s Adventure into Freedom, by Terry Stevens: “A book of hope and possibilities, it is my own story of how something as devastating as a stroke can be turned around to be a positive outlook on life and a valuable spiritual lesson that can spur on healing that is not always possible by conventional thinking.”

Featuring and inspired by the work of Kenneth George Mills, Ralph Waldo Emerson, John Muir, and David Suzuki, this unique theatrical experience -- presented outdoors as befits its themes -- will leave you feeling deeply connected to the wonders of the natural world.
Stone Wisdom, poems and commentaries by Rolland G. Smith. “Stone Wisdom brings the reflections of a graceful traveler who minds the currents under the surface of life’s events. Rolland Smith is one who looks for the signs of compassion and connection between us all” (Laraine Mai).
Spirit Doodling, by Victoria Friedman. She writes: “In my experience doodling creates a break or a discontinuity in the chatter of thoughts. There is a space of silence, a river of stillness that opens the door to a secret, bottomless wellspring of expression unknown to the mind.”
