Dianne Forsyth was a member of the Star-Scape Singers and an extraordinary coloratura soprano whose vocal virtuosity astonished jazz and classical music-lovers alike. Her career as an artist began in earnest when she joined “Sunnyside,” a popular Toronto-based jazz trio. After several years of performing in jazz clubs, concerts, and on TV and radio, Dianne became a member of the Star-Scape Singers. It was under the tutelage of Maestro Kenneth Mills that her talents blossomed as he opened her voice and led her to discover a vocal range of well over three octaves! As an integral member of the group, she recorded 18 albums with Star-Scape. This solo recording, Lady on the Landing, features her unique vocal interpretations of well-known classics such as “Summertime,” “Send in the Clowns,” and “One Note Samba,” and originals such as “I’m Alive,” “Lovely Music of My Soul,” and “I Do Love.”
“The incommensurable talent of Kenneth G. Mills produced a recording artist of great stature: Dianne Forsyth — Lady on the Landing. We listen with awe and wonder to a popular singer whose range included over three octaves. In this recording, the artist descended into herself and produced her deep feeling and emotion that reaches out and overwhelms the listener. This is a recording that will please the most fastidious collector.” – Lyn Jenkins, Harlem Weekly
