Best poem by a high school student: $1.000
Best poem by a university or college student: $1.000
Entrants must be 25 years of age or younger and attending a high
school, university or college in the City of Toronto.
The poetry submission (one poem per entrant) must not be a published work.
Theme of Poem
This year your submission will be a poem about your urban experience of Toronto,
– its diversity, its challenges, its culture, its history, or its meaning to your life.
Your poem, application form, and fee must be submitted by February 28, 2017.

Notification to Winners
The two winners – one student from a high school, and one student from a
university or a college – will be notified by April 15, 2017. Twenty other finalists
will be notified of the opportunity to present their poem on April 30 at the Poetry Gala.
Poetry Gala and Award Ceremony
The winners will be awarded their prize at the Poetry Gala on April 30, 2017,
at the Trinity-St. Paul’s Centre for Faith, Justice and the Arts, 427 Bloor Street West,
from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Jeanne Lamon Hall. At the discretion of the judges,
twenty other finalists will have an opportunity to recite their poem at the Poetry Gala.
